Can you easily have Multiple Routers on a Home Network

I have a home network which is functioning fine and copes with a number of pc's, laptops and wireless printing fine. I am using a SMC Barricade as my router device. My son has a Livebox 360 and we have failed to get it to connect via his wireless linked pc in his bedroom. I believe after checking all the troubleshooting suggestions it is something to do with the age of the Barricade router. I do not want to upset the home network equilibrium by changing just so he can go on line to play his games against his mates.
I have a BT Home Hub which is still boxed. Could I connect it to his bedroom pc either by wirelss or ethernet cable to be used purely as a router between his pc and the Livebox without using it to connect directly to the Internet and rely upon the existing wireless set up his pc runs off for the Internet access ?
