It won't be quite so easy in the shops as it will be on line. As far as I know the high street stores (PC World, Tesco, Aldi etc.) are only selling stuff with Vista pre-installed.
But that's really not the point. Buying an out-of-date operating system just because you've heard someone say they don't like Vista is a bit pointless. If you are buying, buy the latest.
