avi files wont play on WMP

Hi all.

im having problems using avi files in windows media player. For some reason the files will not open at all and i get an error message
'Error ID = 0xC00D1199, Condition ID = 0x00000000'

the version i have is version 10.

if any1 has any ideas how to solve this problem id be very greatful for ur help.
