Re: seller trying to get me to agree to withdraw feedback by giving me negative feedback

In the instance where you got the negative - unfairly from your comments - then it IS worth agreeing to the withdrawal. A neutral has no effect on a sellers rating and so by withdrawing both ratings you will come out of this better. The amount of Withdrawals IS shown right at the start of feedback, and it can be worth keeping an eye on this when a seller appears to be 'clean' but maybe isn't. You may also find they have had a moment of regret after harshly leaving you a neg.

And now I'm gonna say something you will not like. We sell a lot on eBay, and sometimes things go wrong - rarely, but they do. Once (and it was only once) I did sell the same item twice. I refunded the buyer after contacting them and explaining the muck up and offering them a few options. We both left positive feedbacks as the experience was exactly that - there was a problem, it was solved so neutral and negative were not the way to go.

As a seller I would get quite uptight about being left neutral or neg after sorting out a problem. It was one of the reasons that I stopped leaving feedback first.

We had a buyer last month that bought an item on the Friday (we posted Sat) and he queried where it was on Tuesday and asked for feedback as he had paid promptly. I politely emailed to suggest he checked the local sorting office and also pointed him to the terms in ALL our listings that states feedback is left AFTER a buyer's.

Within a few hours the guy leaves feedback saying 'Nice item but seller will not leave feedback first which I do not like'.

I was within an ounce of negging him, but bit it back and decided not to bother leaving anything. Why think of a neg? Well, our terms CLEARLY set out how we operate, and if he doesn't want to abide by them........

Anyway, four weeks later the item turns up returned by the Royal Mail..........Clearly it had been at his sorting office, clearly he hadn't had it but just wanted to get his two pence worth in about our feedback policy and clearly if you let feedback on eBay rule your life............surely you get the rest. It ain't worth it. Agree to the withdrawal, get the red off yours and resign yourself not to buy off them again.
