Spam leaves bad taste: follow-up

In the current issue (169)of WebUser, the problem of Spam is discussed under a heading "Spam leaves bad taste".
In the Answer, it mentions Yahoo Mail and Google mail and suggests that one should and I quote "try forwarding your current email address to one of these"
Can someone explain what exactly this means and how I should do it?
