Maybe it is an extension problem. If so, running in Firefox's Safe Mode should prove that one way or the other. If that doesn't help, perhaps Firefox didn't shut down properly the last it was used. It can appear to have closed down when it really hasn't. Have a close look at the running processes in 'Task Manager' to see if Firefox is listed. If so, select it and end the process (also check for more than one). If this was the case, Firefox should then start. If this keeps happening, read on.
Maybe the Profile is locked. Do you get any messages? If so, delete the 'parent.lock' file. Perhaps try deleting the file even if you don't get a 'Profile in use' message.

Faults that are 'Profile' related, won't be cured by uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox. They have to be fixed by other means. It's sometimes handy to have an additional Profile that can be tried when Firefox doesn't work properly. If Firefox starts working OK with another Profile, then then you'd know where to start looking for a problem. The additional Profile can even be kept and customised to requirements (import bookmarks - install extensions) if the problem proves difficult.
