Have you ever has the system go to BIOS at start up to tell you that multiple operating systems are installed and giving you the choice of which one to use? This would normally happen if you have upgraded from an earlier OS such as ME or have, say, a Linux OS in place. It also happens when the an OS is reinstalled.

What's important is working out which copy of XP is being used to boot the PC. You need to identify which folder by reading the boot.ini file which will contain the file path to the XP folders on your hard drive. Once you know which one is being used, you should be able to delete the other.

There is a way of viewing and editing the boot.ini file so that it points to the correct copy of XP....but I can't remeber how at the moment, sorry!
