I had the same problem when i was with AOL witht he same modem, eventually the insides melted causing the solder to short circuit the board, i switched to a netgear DG834 i think it is and have never had problems with it. ( note that with this router you can only log in uing a master account)

P.s. have you tried reinstaling the drivers fromt he device manager?
