Well you shouldn't be. Orange have made no attempt to block spam at their end, they are quite happy to send it on to you. Any half decent ISP would have spam blockers on their own servers.

I don't know how many email addresses you get with your account but I would guess around 5. The problem you will have is that all these addresses will be virtually the same, something like fred@bloggs.orangehome.co.uk. The only bit that will change is the first part and as spammers are only interested in the bit after the @ you'll still get caught.

To get a completely different address you will need to consider a different provider, something like Google where your address would be fred.bloggs@googlemail.com. That doesn't mean you will leave Orange as a provider of your Broadband services, simply that you would access your mail via Google.

Your antivirus and firewall software won't be affected at all.
