Friends would appreciate some assistance as to how I can fix my problem
Computer is a Packard Bell Lap Top iGO 6204 running windows XP Home
Have noticed recently that I have lost the dialling out and connecting sound when trying to connect to Internet using a DUN . The machine connects OK but just no sound. It is handy to hear the modem sound dialling out and the first exchange of data so one knows positively something is happening.
I have a telephone instrument in parallel with the computer line out connection and when I lift the handset I can hear the dialling out tones and the data being exchanged when the modem connects but cannot hear it on the iGO's loudspeakers.
I have ensured that the sound volume control on the internal AC97 modem is set to full on , also that the loudspeaker volume on the task bar is fully on .
All the main volume controls in the audio media are also set to full on .
Have checked audio media with CD and also with Windows Real Player that plays through the loudspeakers ok.
Have checked in the Device Manager and there are no conflicts indicated.
The only changes that have been made to the System are the Windows XP Updates and the Nortons Anti Virus Updates which come down automatically and get installed. This may have nothing at all to do with the problem but I am clutching at straws here and trying to visualise what could have happened.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what I should be looking for next as I have not changed anything at all on the computer , just the dial out and connecting sound dissapeared .
Thank you for any remedial suggestions
