Thanks for that greyst,
I have recently changed from a wired 5-port switch to a new wireless 4-port router, but my broadband modem is a USB one so is still wired direct to my host PC. When I first changed the switches around, everything worked OK (probably because they were the same make and essentially did the same job), I suppose the problem did start when I actually then installed the set-up disc for the router (to prepare the system for wireless usage) which may have told the PCs that the modem should now be connected to my router rather than the host PC which could explain why I can access internet from the host but not the clients.
Hah! Finally, partially cracked it!! Firstly a classic RTFM fault on my behalf! (There was a 3rd page to the manual! - 'How to configure your router'!) I need to configure the router so each PC can 'talk' to it, secondly I really do seem to have to connect my modem to the WAN port of the router rather than through my host PC, which is going to prove rather difficult as it's a USB type! Back to the shop I go!Edited by geoffrey on 23/07/2003 00:56 (server time).
