In my last post, I mentioned that you should make sure that the box saying "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is ticked. If it is, you'll only get rates that your monitor can display in the drop-down menu under Screen refresh rate. Mine shows 60, 70, 72, 75 or 85 Hertz. 60 is much too low; I was using another PC recently where the refresh rate was set at 60 Hertz and the flickering was dreadful; I'd forgotten how bad it could be. That sort of thing can cause both headaches and eye strain, so change yours to a higher setting as soon as possible, at least 72 Hz. Just click on the rate you want to change to in the drop-down menu, then on "Apply" and "OK". By the way, I don't think it makes any difference that you've got a laptop!
