Firstly I'm curious how you came to the conclusion that US servers are better, could you show some of your research?
Secondly there are no problems being hosted in the US and being listed in UK search engines. As an example a site I used to help run which had over 2000 visitors a day comes second in a google uk search for its primary keywords and it is on a US server.
In all my experience I have never encountered this problem, and I'm curious how you heard this to?
