Webuser Forums: Cannot install programs on WinXP

OK, I just bought this computer (used and no warranty) and it already had WinXP Pro installed. I tried installing several games on it since buying it, but none will work. For instance, Battlefield 2 by EA Games loads and gives no errors, but as soon as you try to run the app, it shuts itself down. Would have thought perhaps it was EA Games fault, but then tried Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Got all the way to the end of installing and it said, "Cannot complete installation. Make sure disk is not full or write protected." MOST DEFINITELY not full at 130 Gb disk size. And how is a hard drive "Write Protected????" So, as another test of faith, tried installing Ravenshield 3. Would not even get past the install shield and the program terminates to windows. Now we have opened a full can of worms...Ever since trying to install Ravenshield, the computer randomly and for no reason locks up and the only way to remedy this is to disconnect power...Not so good on Microshafts program. Anybody have any suggestions, they would be most appreciated.
