I did the update to IE 7.0 and It went well  All security settings carried over.
Only thing I did was to remove the Language Icon from the taskbar and I did also note that I had to reenable the Broadband Connection to "never dial a connection" it had been set as Dial-up 
And AOL users, you may get your "Welcome" page displaying in a long scrolling window to rectify this just close it then reopen it to display as before
PS Only things worth doing on the Welcome page is to turn on the Phishing filter and confirming the Homepage scroll down to click on the Save Changes button
