Cannot use Google to Search!

I have a home PC with Windows98SE and IE 6 set up for 2 user profiles. From within one profile I installed the useful Google toolbar and everything seems fine for searching in IE under that profile. Coincidentally or not, when my wife logs in under her profile she now:
a. CANNOT use the Google toolbar - entering a search term and clicking on 'Search web' or any other function doers not display search results; also
b. CANNOT use the Google web site - she can display the google.com and google.co.uk web sites but nothing happens at all when she clicks on 'Search'. Some of the links around the page do not work either. Searching using Google under my profile is fine (that is also where it was installed from)
I've un-installed the Google toolbar and re-set all her browser settings but this hasn't made any difference. Are there any keys in the Registry that need to set (eg, any of the default search keys under Internet Explorer - registry help is appreciated, I'm pretty confident of editing it). It seems that there is something preventing the display of search results. Any other help will be much appreciated, if I could offer a prize for a solution I would!
Cheers
