system configuration utility

i have made some changes as to what progs run at start up. now everytime i start my pc the system config utility comes up and asks me to select normal start up and undo any changes i made.
well i dont want to do this as i dont want certain things running from start up
how can i stop this box appearing everytime i start the pc
it has a little box which says that if i tick it
it will not appear next time but it still does
any ideas plz ?
