removing dialer

Hi, Hope this is in the right place as it is my first post.
I have recently changed from freeserve to ntlworld, I would like to remove the automatic dialer (freeserve conection kit) that I installed for the former. When I asked for advice I was told I could just delete the dialer from the system tray!!
Any help appreciated including editing the registry, as long as it is explained in words of one syllable including how to back-up and restore this if neccesary. I am a novice, older, computer user who is willing to learn.
