Default Zeus virus - Trusteer defence?

I was referred to www.trusteer.com as a defence against the "current" Zeus banking virus. I have downloaded but not yet installed their program. On their site they state that their services are used by a number of well known financial institutions including the Coventry Building Society. Spoke this morning to CBS who don't seem to know of Trusteer. Has anyone used Trusteer and can you vouch for it (or for anything else that is effective against Zeus alias Zbot)?

I've used Trusteer (secure browser) before and it wont remove *any* infections so i dont know the point?!- last time i used it it screwed up my keyboard and their support told me to turn off the protection to fix!!! - what good is that? also if you use trusteer you need to use another antivirus alongside!

If you want to get rid of zeus i would highly recommend using AVG free or prevx 3 - prevx removes zbot/zeus for free and has a secure browser included!!!

http://www.prevx.com
Good luck!

Tks Sarah for the tip - may be I won't install Trusteer after all. I didn't expect it to remove Zeus/Zbot but instead act as prevention since from what you hear Zeus is able to get through normal anti-virus software (which I take it includes AVG and what I use, Avast).

It might be an idea to have prevx 3 in reserve in case of getting infected but I don't know if their secure browser is effective prevention against this particular virus also in the first place. May be some of the other forum people can tell us.

hi Sarah - not sure you're on the money with trusteer. The version I got from Natwest is supposed to work alongside AV, not instead of - the natwest pages say it is supposed to protect my username and password so i'm not sure it is supposed to remove anything...... thats what the my bank says anyway.
I've been using it for about 6 months and havent had any problems with it.

Hi - old-style AV scanning programs are less effective at detecting new viruses and trojans, and some can't be removed, even if they are detected. The Trusteer program is not like old-style security software - it doesn't try to recognize bad software or "clean" a PC. Instead, Trusteer protects your online banking etc and prevents unauthorized access. It is very good at this, and doesn't bother you either. You just "set it and forget it".

So does Trusteer act like Prevx (apart from screwing up Sarah's keyboard) or is there some subtle difference?
