Windows Media Player wont open properly
I don't even know if this is the correct place to post this, but here goes...
This is probably a very simple problem, but is one that has me beat. And it occurs no matter what version of Windows Media Player I try to use (9, 10 or 11).
If I click the icon to open Windows Media Player, it ALWAYS opens minimized on the taskbar, never maximized on the monitor screen. If I then try to maximize it, the graphic appears to fly completely off the monitor, off-screen to the right.
Instead, if I minimize it, then either a second version pops up on the taskbar or the MINI-MODE displays on the taskbar.
This happens even if I try double clicking a video file icon (wmv, avi etc.), however, no video picture ever appears in the MINI-MODE window though the file does seem to be playing.
In short, Windows Media Player never opens on the monitor screen.
I tried up-dating to Media Player 11, but to no effect. So instead I planned to try to reinstall the player from scratch, but windows won't let me - the program doesn't appear in the Add or Remove Programmes List, and whenever I try to manually delete a Windows Media file from the folder, back it comes automatically.
I am using Windows XP, and have ALL the latest updates (recently downloaded, but this problem occurred well before I downloaded any update).
Can this problem be repaired by using the windows boot disk? Or is there something else I can do?
