Windows 7 / Windows Media Player 12

Every time I start my PC and launch WMP, WMP completely re-builds my music library from stratch. This takes about 20/25 minutes during which time WMP is all but unusable. When it is finished I have a complete set of duplicated entries in WMPs' library. If I close WMP and re-open it the duplicate entries are removed.

This seems to be a common problem with WMP 12 but apart from a somewhat problematic downgrade to WMP 11 I have been unable to find a solution.

Any ideas ?
