Default iexplore.exe

My NIS 2010 shows iexplorer.exe with the IE logo but says fewer than 10 users in the community have it, that seems a bit suspicious to me though NIS says it hasn't done anything suspicious yet and believes it to be trustworthy. It has been on my machine since 13 October

Is there a good site for checking .exe files out?

iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer.

Thanks for the link to that very useful site, George. I've bookmarked it.

there is a difference between iexplore.exe and IEXPLORER.EXE

iexplorer.exe is spyware\adware and needs to be removed.

On the face of it that's what it seems to be too Madeline, I just don't follow how NIS says fewer than ten people have this particular flavour of the file if that's the case.

Several .msi files also appear in the fewer than ten user category too.

Can my version of IE be that special?

Definitely iexplore.exe running Bricat, though NIS 2010 says fewer than ten users in the Norton community have that file.

Ooops Sorry about that I meant to type

My NIS 2010 shows iexplore.exe

Still don't understand why NIS should think fewer than 10 people have the version of the file that I do, unless every iexplore.exe is unique.

it could be just a norton mistake, but if you want, post a hjt log in the HJT forum and we'll have a look.
