Default Compression Software

hi all.
can anyone recommend a free program that will open a Zip file other than winzip.

There's 7zip for free although Windows own zip file system works ok for me.

Have a look at <font color="blue"><u>ExtractNow</u></font> which supports ZIP, RAR, ISO, BIN, IMG, IMA, IMZ, 7Z, ACE, JAR, GZ, LZH, LHA, TAR, SIT archive formats.

Windows from ME onwards, but excluding Windows 2000, has built-in support for creating and opening ZIP archives.

PeaZip is an OS-portable archiver. It uses it's Pea archive format featuring archive volume spanning, compression and authenticated encryption. PeaZip also has a full support for most common compression formats, which include: 7Z, 7Z-sfx, BZip2, GZip/TGZ, PAQ8F, PAQ8JD, PAQ8L, PEA, QUAD, split (.001), TAR and ZIP. Browse/Extract support for ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, ISO, Java archives (JAR, EAR, WAR), Linux installers (DEB, PET/PUP, RPM), LHA, LZH, PK3/PK4, Open Office file types, RAR, Windows installers (NSIS, some MSI) and Z.
