Conflict with Kaspersky and Avast

Could anyone tell me if there is a conflict with Kaspersky internet security 2010 and Avast? Do I need antivirus also on my laptop with this internet security?

No . K.I.S. 10 is suffice.

A conflict? You should never run 2 antivirus programs on the same machine. This will most likely cripple the machine. Only ever run1 av program at a time!
