Default Recovering files from a formatted HD

Hello,

I recently bought an IDE disk caddy for my old Seagate HD. It soon developed problems and wasn't letting me access files citing an I/O error. Device manager said it was working fine, although it patently wasn't and I ran a Seagate test which showed errors and decided to allow Seagate tools to attempt to repair the HD.

Unfortunately, as I wasn't able to access the HD before this I didn't think I could salvage the files which were on it. So I reluctantly formatted it afterwards. However, further reading has led me to believe that even though the disk is formatted, I can still recover the files. Is this something I can do with the appopriate software or would it be a professional job? It was only old music MP3s so it's not the end of the world if I can't recover them!

Have a look at the Recuva file recovery program.
