Running this tool -->> Rest Digital Rights Management <<-- seems to work for some with identical errors like yours.

Hi Fusion, many thanks for your quick reply which I'm sorry to say didn't work. Is there any way that I can delete the whole thing (I'm not too bothered about the music as I can reload all that) and re-install with WMP or something entirely different that does the same job?

Morning Manx

I'm not sure what you mean by 'delete the whole thing'. What are you wanting to delete?

There are many many potential solutions to the error code and trying to pin point is not always easy as you're finding out.

However, and correct me if I'm wrong, the CD probably doesn't open in a player as such, it opens as a program??

Try putting the CD into the drive and hold down the shift key for say 15 seconds. This should prevent it from auto starting.
Now navigate to your CD/DVD drive icon, I have a shortcut on my Desktop, but if you don't, go to My Computer.
Right click the icon -> Explore.

This will show you the contents of the CD.

By all means look in each folder, but becareful not to inadvertently install something like a program that DCM is offering as a trial or otherwise.

Hopefully there will be an icon to 'Start' the CD running and to reveal it's contents as you would under normal usage. Give it a try.

If this works, it's obviously a work around and not a solution to the original problem.

Hope it helps.

Hi Fusion, thanks once again for your reply. Sorry but reading through things I haven't been very clear at all with the problem I am having which has changed slightly since I first posted. The problem is with WMP originally when I navigated to the cd contents and clicked on the WMP icon it would open up the player but throw up the error. Anyway I discovered that the files I wanted to open were .mov files ie mac versions so I searched for ways how to play these using WMP. After a lot of trial and error when i open the files I now get video on WMP but no sound even though the sound is on as I can play ordinary music files no probs. Thanks for your help in this matter.

I think it's fair to say that .mov files can be played in WMP quite easily if you have the codecs installed. They aren't just 'Apple' playable.

However, downloading codec packs will more than likely give you the correct one, but it also gives you a load more which are useful, but can prove problematic at times.

With that, I'll sugest to download -->> Quicktime Player <<- to try. Note the option to NOT install iTunes if you DON'T want it.

I use this -->> Codec Pack <<-- amongst others and theirs not much you I can't play!

But as I said earlier, they can cause rare issues you can do without. Try at you own very limited risk as a last resort and the pack is uninstallable via Add/Remove programs.
