Default THOUGHTS ABOUT THE TEXT IN WEBUSER

I am wondering why the topic was closed just one day after it was published.

Secondly I want to reply to one point.
When I said that there are errors in subsequent issues, I thought that the following extract made it clear that I meant after issue 206

Although the content of Web User is excellent the language often is not

A few examples (not all): in issue 206;
p3 "gadget problem ( gadget is not an adjective)
p27 "different types of camerA" (needs an "s"
and then on page 27 "a certain AMOUNT of prints FOR free

Thanks for reading Web User so closely and taking the time to share your observations. We always strive to use a high standard of grammar in both the magazine and on our website and we do appreciate people letting us know when these standards slip.
We know from your previous correspondence that grammar and language is a matter of importance to you, and we hope our editorial style doesn't ruin your enjoyment of our content.
Thanks
Claire and the Web User team

Yes, it did. My apologies to you for not paying proper attention to what you had written and for the remark I made.

Thank you.

However, until you employ someone to proof read the texts, the errors
will continue
They are a reflection of the way the writer(s) speak, such as "amount of.. (instead of number of) in issue 206, as mentioned earlier.
I have just seen the following "little gem" on your web site: (error in capitals)

The web is an incredibly useful tool for tracking people down, be they old friends or new business contacts. HERE'S 16 ways to find someone’s details online.

Surely it is better to enjoy the content of the magazine and forgive occasional grammatical error.

Apparently not... Unless, of course, seeking out and finding the rare errors (word total percentage basis), and pointing them out is the enjoyment.

Never thought of it that way

It's no good replying to my post suggesting the employment of a proofreader. I'm just a reader of the magazine.

It's pointless to complain anyway. I mentioned in the other thread that I'd decided that a post I'd made about 10 months previously regarding a tautology in the magazine was petty. Just as well, since the same tautology appears in the current issue!

If you intend to draw attention to mistakes in the spelling and/or grammar in the magazine, it behoves you to ensure that no such errors occur in your own post(s). The post to which I'm replying lacks a full stop. If you open quotation marks as in "amount of.., at some point, you should use more to close the quotation.

I nearly forgot the spelling error! Proofread, proofreading, proofreader. Three words, not six, as there is no space in the middle of these words.
