Default Help please.....newbie question!

Hello there all
I have just ordered a desktop and a laptop from Dell and am looking to have the desktop wired to the internet and the laptop wireless and able to be used at the bottom of my garden (approx 40 feet) I would also like to be able to print wirelessly from my laptop if that is possible! ( I have a standard HP Photosmart C4180 which will be wired to the desktop)
Could anyone possibly help/advise me on a good ( and not too expensive) wireless router that will do the job as above and also would I be needing any other equipment to make the above possible.
All advice and opinions will be appreciated. Thank you all.

Default Re: Help please.....newbie question!

The type of Router you require depends whether your broadband is Virgin's Cable service or ADSL via the phone line. Cable uses a stand-alone Router in conjunction with the Cable Modem supplied by Virgin; ADSL requires a combined "Router & ADSL Modem" to replace a USB Modem.

Routers suitable for <u>Cable Broadband</u>

Routers suitable for <u>ADSL Broadband</u>

When both computers are connected to the Router, they are "Networked" and you will be able to "Share" folders in either computer and the Printer attached to the Desktop PC. In order to print from the Laptop via the printer attached to the Desktop PC, the Desktop PC will have to be running. I have posted instructions for setting up a "Network" printer in XP or Vista <u>Here</u>
