Default recommended hosting provider

Hi people I'm new to the site and to the web building game as a whole can anyone recomend a good value Web hosting provider to establish a web presence with e-mail facility to start off but with the abillity to expand at a later date to include secure selling/billing. If these answers exist on other threads please point me in the right direction to find them
cheers

hi woodturner,

I use two hosts at the moment:

MonteCarloHosting - Just re-newed account for the third year, cannot fault them absolutely brilliant. They're a small Canadian company with servers based in the US.

InnoHosting - UK based with servers in UK and US, your choice. Again I recently sign for the third year. I have several sites hosted with them.

I've used other hosts, none as good as these two. The first site in my signature (bolitho) is with InnoHosting and the other (council house exchange) is with MonteCarloHosting

All the best - Duncan

Thanx Guys
Just a quick look at the sites recomended makes me realise how little I know about web hosting and site building I guess I need a crash course in jargon busting and feature sifting so I can know what the features are that I need and what I can do without. Nothing is ever as easy as you thought it would be is it Does anyone know of a simple mans guide to the hosting and site building languige so I can make the decisions with some sort of basic knowlge and not be paying for features I will never need or use.
Cheers Woodturner

I use www.compila.com with hardly any problems in 10 years. If you do have a problem, their support team are great.
