Default Broadband with extension lead

HI guys.

ok scenario:

extension lead coming off the master socket in the hallway to upstairs. This worked for years until i knocked something against the end of the extension lead in the hallway which broke it and i had to replace the connector. Now previously both ends of the extension cable were configured as follows: blue/white wire to pin 2 and orange/white wire to pin 5. I got a new connector and in the meantime learned it should actually be wired blue/white to pin 2 and white/blue to pin 5. Done on both ends and telelphone coming from the extension can ring out and answer calls - broadband cannot connect!!!! But it can connect from the master socket. I also tried, for arguments sake, the original configuration of blue/white to pin 2 and orange/white to pin 5 and have dial tone and can use the telephone but still no broadband!

I have tried it with and without filters on each end.

Can anyone help?

This same cable worked for years!!

Hi,
The colour of the wires will make no difference provided that the wires are connected to the appropriate terminals at each end.Looking at the wall socket wiring I note that the blue with white ring wire (there might also be a different white with blue ring wire) is connected to pin 2.The orange with white ring wire is connected to pin3. I feel sure that I have seen extention leads in a £1 shop.

well the only way to connect them to the appropriate terminals is to know the colours. I have no idea why you were telling me about where to get extension leads, that wasnt part of my question. Anyway, in this instance this forum wasn't loads of help but just incase anyone comes across it here is my solution.

-----
I thought I had tried all combination of filters on and off both ends of extension but this is the config now working:

master socket: extension lead plugged into it. Microfilter plugged into extension lead with house phone plugged into microfilter.

Upstairs and on the other end of the extension cable: microfilter plugged into extension cable and router plugged into that.

Wiring on both ends of the extension cable is blue/white to pin two of connector and white/blue to pin five.
