Default 3 mobile broadband eratic web browsing

Can Anyone Help???????
I’ve got a Huawei E156G Modem with 3 PAYG.
I’ve had no end of connection problems, which seemed to resolve themselves until about a month ago.
I can connect to the network HSDPA with a good signal. When I try to surf the web it works for about 5-10mins then I can’t connect to any web sites, whether they are new or previous ones I’ve just been on. The network is still connected and a strong signal.
I’m using windows firewall which I disabled to no avail. I have windows XP and am using AVG.
I’ve had the same problem with Google Chrome, Firefox and IE 7and 8.
I’ve had new modems all to no avail. When I try to diagnose connection problems on IE7 it says it cannot find the wireless connection.
PLEASE HELP

As you will presumably be connecting with the "Three" utility, check that in Internet Explorer "Tools > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected "Never dial a connection".

You can actually connect by double clicking the "3" connection's icon in the Network Connections folder, which I found to connect more quickly than using the "3" utility.

Seems to be a lot more stable, had only one instance of "cannot find webpage" so far. Thanks for that.

I found that the E220 dongle could not recover from a short term signal loss, about 1 or 2 seconds, which happens several times an hour where I am, and just hangs. The turquoise LED still glows but nothing happens. Rebooting the dongle would restore the connection, until the next time. I don't know whether that applies to the more recent dongles too, but your experience sounds familiar.
I now use a Netgear MBM621 modem, which does recover from signal outages automatically, and it has transformed the '3' service into something quite usable for me. It does require a 12V 1A supply, so it isn't as portable as a dongle
