Default No Thumbnails in Sony's Picture Motion Browser

While I use other software to edit and play camcorder videos, I use Sony's Picture Motion Browser to store my video clips. The browser should show thumbnail pictures of each clip but I just get an icon with a "lightning break" through it. Sony can't/won't help and say it is a PC software issue. Can anyone advise please? I have read recently that your symptoms may be caused by a 'broken' video codec.

Have a look at this link -->> Check Audio and Video Codecs Installed in the Computer and download -->> Sherlock which when ran, will highlight in red any damaged or broken codecs.

I hope you noted the 'broken' codecs before you removed them as you will no doubt need to download and reinstall good versions of those codecs.

Yes thanks. The broken codecs were for a Roxio programme that I no longer use and have uninstalled. The broken codecs are some left over items after the uninstall
