Post Office

I recently switched from AOL/BT to the Post Office phone/broadband package which I am thoroughly enjoying. If anyone out there is also using the PO and would like to exchange information, please let me know.

Don't use PO for broadband, but do for phone and was happy UNTIL I had a line fault. That is when you discover how poor the customer service is. A nightmare to get through to, when you do they expect you to test the phone BEFORE They will send out an engineer (they also expect you to call back and go through all the 'Listen to the following options JUST to get a the date the engineer will call)............

Could go on, but am currently entangled with them trying to get some compensation for not having a phone for a month. And they basically get BT out to fix the lines.

It just goes to show that no matter what provider you care to mention there is always some people that are dissatisfied for one reason or another. I left AOHell and BT because I found their ways of doing business totally unacceptable. Luck is the name of the game...

The problem with recommending anything without using it thoroughly and seeing how they react to problems is nothing to do with luck. Broadband services should be judged on long term - what is the connection like? How often do you lose it? Are you subject to limits when you download large files? Do you actually get the speed they say? How do they deal with problems?

You'd never know that about any service for a good few months, nay, say a year.

I'm with Virgin Cable and they sort out problems quick and efficiently. They give me anything from 9.5 to 10.5 when I pay for 10 without fail. However, their email system is a dogs breakfast.

AND as per another thread I started, today they announced they will give all 2MBs users the same service that I get from May and they will pay less.

Time to see how they react to a complaint?

I appreciate what you say FR. So far (touch wood) I am in a position to answer all your questions in a positive way: connection has never failed...have never lost it...I am on 5GB monthly which is ample for my needs...they advertise "up to 8meg" and I am getting a satisfactory 7 (drops at peak times to about 5)...some teething problems initially which were sorted by telephone (free UK centre and no language barriers) and emails. The future will tell if I stay with them when out of contract (one year for BB, phone is on 15 days notice) but so far, so good. Thanks for your input.

I'm with you FilthyRaider on this one, the PO and also TT are not up to it when the line goes belly up, they both take weeks to sort the problem out unlike BT or Virgin.
They may offer services a little cheaper but that's about as far as it goes.
As for the PO and their 5Gb download per month (standard) their havin' a laugh.
