Re: Acronis True Image 11 / Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
I use Acronis True Image 10 and wouldn't be without it. It gives a secure feeling to know that, no matter what happens to the computer, a clean OS with all programs installed is only 15 - 20 minutes away. I can try out beta or any other software, make an awful mess of things (not that I do so much these days ..but I might) and still easily get out of trouble.
An Acronis disk image would also overwrite and totally get rid of any malware that happened to get picked up. That's not to say you could dispense with security software though. It's not always possible to know if malware is present without the usual detection programs. However, if you knew or suspected that it was, a disk image can be the answer to getting rid of it.
Something to remember before overwriting the current C:\ drive data; Back up any new files, e-mails etc to another disk beforehand. They will be lost otherwise. Windows Updates released since a backup was made will also need reinstalling.
