Default Freeware Comodo Firewall

Tried out the freeware Comodo Firewall. This program is so good that literally within seconds I was unable to access anything on my Computer. Ended up having to reboot system losing all data in the process. Luckily I'd backed up all the important stuff. This is one program to be avoided at all costs!!! I can't agree with you. I installed it some months ago after it was recommended by WebUser and I've not had any problems with it. You'll find quite a few of the members of this forum use it.

Welcome to the forum.

It's the best firewall I've used. I changed from ZA about nine months ago and have had no problems with it.

Been using it since August 2006 with no problems.

I think it can be important to make sure all traces of a previous firewall are removed before installing Comodo. That probably applies to any change of firewall though.

After uninstallation of the existing firewall using the program's uninstaller (or Add/Remove Programs), search the disk for leftover files and the Registry for left-over entries. Don't settle for some part of the old firewall not allowing deletion. Find out why before going further. Once the old firewall is completely gone, then install Comodo.

This is the practice I've always followed anyway. Same procedure applies to Comodo major upgrades/version changes. If this was done, I wouldn't know why you had a bad experience with the Comodo firewall.

Mart?
I agree 110% with your post. COMODO can Be troublesome with Old Firewall Remnants left in situ. I had a similar issue (Lost several programs ) I then remember doing the uninstall of MacAfee Personal firewall ,then a runthrough with CCleaner, and then a Defrag then installed COMODO and apart from a few small teething problems such as working out the controls (and the Housekeeping page which comes up on the day after updates). Its been no bother at all
