Default Legal 1 minute DIY Broadband speed update (UK only)

Sonebody posted this Idea in the other place and I followed it Up and it is apparently workable (My wiring can be altered, 1 minute job)
www.jarviser.co.uk/jarviser/broadbandspeed.html

All you need is a fine jewellers screwdriver for the Terminal screws(sell these in Poundland as a set)
Method>>>

NOTE Better doing it from the extension socket! Rather than the Master socket as your Phone will be on the First Micro filter branch correct?

Proof that it works!
www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=633712

It is a trial and error thing. If no improvement then its No big deal but for a slow speed circuit it may be a godsend?
I'll try it out on my AOL 1.1 Mb connection (1152 kbps/288 kbps) and Fingers crossed .Supposed to be " up to 8Mbs link"

Only People that won't benefit are those on cable BB? (right or wrong?)

Update on my line ...No Joy It is only certain conbinations that can be Updated. The common Orange /White wire input dates from the 60's is not Changeable!

Has to be a 4 wire connection and you have to work out the code from this Page
www.telephonesuk.co.uk/wiring_info.htm
I'd say this upgrade will benefit a few hundred people at best

As you have found out, it's more trouble than it's worth. Your not going to get any huge improvement anyway.

How about testing shizzle like this thoroughly before posting. One cannot always rely of 'Hints & Tips' garnered from other sites and forums...

At least you can see I told you my findings /conclusions.
Am Not an electrical or BT engineer Have a cousin and Pal who I don't see much who are BT engineers and they would have pointed out the catch in the Tip in a second.

Odd thing I did notice in the Diagram is that terminal wire No 3 is not "straight through" only 2 & 5 (4 is redundant) and on the same page its says that
[ QUOTE ]
On older installations (pre-1980) cream or grey cables were used. They contained conductors coloured blue to pin 2, orange to pin 5, brown to pin 3 and green to pin 4 (if used), on some conversions green was used for pin 3 and brown for pin 4.
<u>Additional Bells</u> are wired between pin 3 (orange/white) and pin 5 (white/blue).
