IE.7.0 compatiblity probs looming with AOL software?

I have IE 6.0 and it keys to another version of IE. 6.0 within the AOL software bundle
Question...
IE7 only works with the New AOL Explorer which has no connection software and its upgraded replacement crashed my computer [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img](has the connection software in situ)
The majority of us (AOL subscribers) have the reliable V6.0 IE and a download of V7.0 will crash the AOL 9.0 browser
Can the W/U staff find out what if any, plans AOL have for this event in November? Thanks

Every time I see you post a problem about AOL you expect the admin staff to jump about and fix it. Why??? What the hell has it got to do with them? IPC is an entirely seperate function and has no contact whatsoever with AOL. I would suggest you write direct to AOL and ask them the question, or better still, dump a **** ISP and use one that works properly.

Didn't mean it that way Spencer. I have only intended it as a heads up to spread the word to AOL members who don't use the Internal Message boards nor update their browsers nor keep abreast of major updates such as this ( Numbers wise quite a lot) I have put this query on <u>Today</u> and expect an answer soon and will post here if there is a positive reply
PS They issued a patch for SP2 well in Time for that update ,but it seems they are going to be caught napping on this? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img]

I did post the link and Message onto the AOL message boards but... Its poorly organised and Cannot preview nor edit Postings I'd rate this as 2/10 [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

Activity(postings) is very Poor (and lurkers almost Zero)
I think Open Forums like here have many times that in daily traffic in both Posters and Lurkers and response times are good

I tend to agree with Spencer about AOL. I'm curious about why you stick with AOL when it seems to cause you so many problems. If you use AOL, do you have to use their software? If not, get rid of it! I'm with BT Yahoo! and I couldn't get on with their software at all, so I dumped it ~ end of problems! They're not a bad ISP on the whole and I don't have any problems with them now. Try another ISP, you might be pleasantly surprised! AOL aren't called AOHell for nothing!

Many moons ago I posted a posting about how I arrived at AOL here is a shortened version:

My first 2 ISPs both let me down badly 1 with poor connection problems and the second robbing me and others of our money and waiting for Altavista to open their unmetered ISP service. But,they do not do it (Change of plan?) So I started using AOL as a stopgap until I got a better deal but nothing better came up and I'm still with AOL. 7 years this month

Ok the service is not perfect but compared to the previous 2 deals it's a 1000% better and I've made the best of it
giving tips out and telling it as it is...Has its good parts and its bad parts.
Since the beginning of this year it has deterioriated quite markedly the Forums moderation has been handed to an outside firm and the People that were the experts (better than me) have been given their cards [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
To top it all the Forums have been severely cut back and Navigation is difficult even for me.Doubt if people return after wading through this mire [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] I've posted 3 questions recently and Only had 1 reply... from an Idiot! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] before the replies were on the same volume as the WU forum and the quality was good
So they have really Boobed Bigtime with this reorganisation [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

So The people who should be in there looking for advice /help are on the Opem Web looking for the fixes and they are browsing in places like here hence if I'm not sure I ask people who may be able to answer namely yourselves [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

On my other forums I deal with many different subjects other than computers and the drill is... if you Know somebody who may know tell them. Formulate(Pool) a good answer and keep the questioners attention. Not Get Lost ! or leading them
on a wild goose chase [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

As to Madelines query about going elsewhere to another ISP
I live just outside Wigan which is Wired up to Telewest and you'd think we too would be Telewest wired up on our communal aerial answer NO its council operated and a few years ago they sold it to a private firm who couldn't maintain it
And they went out of business(within 2 years?) The council decided to give households outdoor aerials
It riles me because Telewest only needs a mile or so cabling to link the 2 towns up and get another 10,000+ households
Most of Merseyside/Greater Manchester is Telewest Territory yet the densely populated part of South Lancs has got Basic TV reception and a disused Communal aerial! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]
I'd be using Telewest to get online now if they had a presence in my town

Thanks for taking the trouble to answer. It certainly sounds as if things have gone downhill with AOL recently.They're by no means the only ISP with poor customer support though; I read something about people's dissatisfaction with the customer service provided by their ISPs, but I can't remember where.
I hope that, one way or another, you'll get better service soon, either with AOL or elsewhere.

Off the AOl boards (at last)
There was an issue with earlier beta versions and the Latest version is stable to use with all versions from AOL 5 upwards
But...if you are using MS Outlook pass on the download seems there are reports (unconfirmed) that the AOL browser will crash ...If you want to risk it and report back what happens? The reason is in the sending and recieving of emails from this Program?

Apparently it "looks like a code error" to IE 7 and its blocking incoming

and outgoing mail. Some people get it 1 way (don't say which) But...it's not too bad considering some Software switch overs (and compatiblity probs) we've had in the Past Lot of people have forgotten about the long running issue with the MSN Passport and MSN Explorer Logins
I only could get onsite when I upgraded to XP and they'd dropped or patched the Passport program that was over a period I think of 2 years? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] Still very slow to log on even today [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
