Default Clean up your desktop with a new toolbar.

I'm not sure if this one has been posted elsewhere, but...

Take any folder on your desktop and drag it to the edge or top of your screen... and you'll find that it opens and sticks there. If you click on a blank area of this new toolbar and select "Auto-hide" from the list, it will disappear out of sight until you move your mouse to that edge.

It works with folders containing any sort of file and will give you quick access to all those things (like program shortcuts) that you need on a regular basis, but which you just don't want cluttering up your desktop.

To put the folder back where you found it, left click over the line at the end of the toolbar, drag it into the centre of your desktop and click the close icon.

Worked fine, but how do you undo it if you want to change the folder? Can you do more than 1 folder? Doesn't seem to work with more than 1 on Win98SE

If you want to remove the toolbar altogether, just drag it into the middle of your desktop and close it, or right click on a blank area and then Close Toolbar.

With Windows XP you can have toolbars on the top, left and right of the screen at the same time, but I'm not sure about W98. You can always add a sub-folder to the toolbar you have already by clicking on a blank area then selecting Toolbars > New Toolbar. Browse to the folder that you want to add and click OK. The folder will be added to the end of your toolbar with a button that you have to click on to open it. Depending on how much space you have on the toolbar, you can grab hold of the line beside the folder's title and drag it to reveal the contents of the sub-folder.

Are you following this?
