Default whats most important to make a PC faster ?

i have a 50Gb hard disk, 256MB RAM & 2.66Ghz processor laptop. Can you all please tell me what will i need to upgrade to have a much faster performance ? the hard disk space, the processor or the RAM...in other words what plays a very important role in making a pc or a laptop performance faster.

More RAM will make your laptop perform faster. 50G hard drive is for storage.

sorry, missed on point of your question. Processing speed allows for faster response times for multi-tasking . such as if you'll use demanding multimedia software, either for editing graphics, sounds, or video or for playing graphics-intensive games. you laptop/pc will not get hung up if you have many apps running at the same type. better streaming video...

here it is: RAM for accessing hardware faster
Processor for doing multiple tasks at the same time fast (graphics, multimedia, etc.)
Hard Drive basically storage (if this is overloaded, can slow down machine too)

Defragging the HD may lend speed to your system, lesser the fragmentation, faster the function of the HD and its partners such as the CPU/RAM/Video Card etc.

i tried the defrag but it says it does not need to be done...what i am trying now is to add additional RAM to it...thank you
