Default whats the difference between ADSL & CABLE modems ?

can anyone pls tell me :

1. whats the diff. between ADSL AND CABLE Modems ?

I am currently on NTL (cable modem unlimited use) which I connect to 2 home PC (network) through a Broadband router....

2. will an ADSL modem do the same ? will i be able to connect 2 PCs through a broadband router if i am on ADSL modem ?

No.

An ADSL modem is used for phone lines. A cable modem is used for cable. The signal is different, hence the need for different modems.

Do you mean you are thinking of changing your broadband supplier from NTL to a telephone based one? If so, and you buy an ADSL modem/router then yes, can share the connection. If you buy an ADSL modem that connects through an Ethernet port (NOT USB) then you should be able to use your existing router.

I absoluetly LOVE cable. It's WAY faster than DSL (in most areas)

Cable comes over, well, cable. DSL comes in over the phone line and you have to install filters on your phones to avoid the static sound that DSL creates. (It uses a higher frequency on the phone line than you do, but you can still hear it without the filters.)
