Go ViaMichelin Maps

I came across these <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm>Via Michelin maps</A> covering detailed road maps of the whole of Europe including the new EU member states. This site could be very useful for all European drivers, especially long distance lorry drivers heading abroad!

Zooming in and out is very easy and has a bar that goes from street level all the way to continent level - good for a clear perspective.

You can also plan routes from A to B and see mini maps for each part of the journey.

But the best feature of all is that the roads have house numbers on them to help you locate which end of the street you need to head for.


I would say this beats the competition which is:

Maybe Webuser could expand on this post and produce one of their excellent reviews of the mapping sites. I'd be interested to see if they agreed with my Gold Award for ViaMichelin Maps.

I'd have to agree with you Chris.....I used the Michelin site when a relative wanted the journey to a place in the Algarve and he said it was spot on......That's all you need really, good information.

Glad to hear someone else likes them. I tried a random search of Budapest and found that the maps only zoom in there to a certain level.

So I tried a google search of road map Budapest and found <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.hot-maps.de/karten-ort.html>this map site</A> containing many major city maps from around the world. (Site written in German, but you can choose English for place names on the map). The controls are a bit vague - you have to click the little directions N, S , E, and W on the compass to move round the map or move the red square round the map.

The big problem with this site is the absurdly small font, which I found no way of enlarging, so pinpointing a particular road is tough.

I've just got the ViaMichelin/HP iPaq bundle. V happy with UK performance so far BUT ViaMichelin do not do USA/Canada maps. I had a Medion PDA with SatNav that worked brilliantly in the USA on holiday but unfortunately the pda died and had to be replaced.
Does anyone know if there are any other manufacturer's GPS maps of the USA that will work on the ViaMichelin/Kirrios kit?
