For anyone who is trying to help a young child to read, this site could be useful. It's full of illustrated nursery rhymes.
"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly" story. I remember reading that one as a child!
There are various ways to teach children to read depending on what stage they are at:
If they can't speak at all, just read the rhyme and point to the pictures as you say the words
You could get them to point to the pictures and say what the picture is if they aren't ready to read the text.
Or read the rhyme to them and then get them to read it back to you, tracing along the words with your finger and helping them with pronouncing the beginning of the word like cl... to help them say clock.
One word of warning - scan the text for American spellings!
I don't have any children at present, but I have read to my friends' children. I teach adults.
If anyone knows anyone who is learning the English Language at a beginner level, these worksheets could be useful practice -http://www.ks3bradford.co.uk/Shine.htm
