Default Lexmark X1150

Am running Windows XP pro, recently I bought a Lexmark X1150 all in one printer, however when I connected up and installed it onto my PC, I tried printing a page and after approx 10-15 seconds of printing I was informed that a cartridge stall error had occurred and the software crashed on my causing me to re-boot to clear the printspool. I contacted Lexmark and after various emails crissed-crossed and various workarounds were tried with no success, Lexmark decided to replace my defective printer with a new one.

I again connected up and installed from scratch, set it to print and.....got the exact cartridge stall error that I got with the original printer !!!

Anyone got any ideas what may be causing this???

Thanks Again

Are you sure it is not carrier stall?

This is usually caused by the chrome bar along which the incartridges run is a little too greasy. Try cleaning it with nail polish REMOVER or toluene

Just gave it a clean and re-installed and its exactly the same problem, what are the chances of the chrome bars on both new printers being too greasy??

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem! Now on my second machine as well.

I don't think it's anything to do with the machine as I installed it on a separate laptop and it worked fine.

I'm 99% sure it's something USB related (drivers, ports etc) but don't know enough about computers to sort it - anyone out there who can?!

Cheers for any help

I had a Lexmark all in one which constanly went wrong, and every time it was related to the usb cable, the connection within the port or the software, but whenever this happened Sy355, an annoying voice would shout at me "problem communicating with the printer". If it's a problem with the usb you should be getting the same message, and also, if it's usb or port related, the printer just won't print.

My lexmark all in one is now an expensive footrest. Nice looking machine. Cartridges far too expensive. Software full of problems. I bought a Canon instead.

How annoying, so is there no solution? I don't need a footrest just yet.

Is it definately a "cartridge stall error" that you're getting Sy355 ? I ask because I can only find references to "carrier stall" issues (putasolutions asked above if you were sure about this, and you didn't confirm) :-)

PS

On the Lexmark site in their knowledgebase they address a "Cartridges stuck" error for the 1100 series. You might want to check that out. If the link works properly you'll find the page <A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/knowledgebase.cgi?ccs=227:5:0:386:0:0&framed=&doci d=ENUS13891&relevance=1>here</A>.

Buster

It is definately a 'cartridge stall error' that I am getting both audio and visually. Lexmark asked me to try the printer on another PC, but dont think that would solve anything being as I now have two 'footstools' in my immediate vicinity !!!
