I have a brand new Acer desktop PC with Vista Home Premium and using IE8 as my browser. I have made the BBC my home page, but when I click to open a new blank page it opens with my home page every time. I have the same set up on my Acer laptop but clicking the tab for a new page there doesn't result in my home page every time. Just wondering if I've checked something I shouldn't have. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Go into Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Tabs (Settings) -> When a new tab is opened, open -> A blank page (in drop down menu). See -->> HERE <<--
Hope this helps.

I had tried that earlier Fusion and that is what I got, a blank page. I was looking for 'about tabs'....it's only a small thing, I just wondered where it had gone Thanks anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'about tabs'?

On my Acer laptop I get a page asking what I want to do next, listing several options
Browse in Private Use an accelerator Re-open closed tabs and a few other options
in the url bar it just says 'about tabs'
Bit of a mystery really, but no problem Fusion, I will just use the blank page option
Thanks again

There's plenty of ways to -->> Disable <<-- the facility you want. I suspect once you have opted to change the way the tab opens, it isn't available.
Changing a Registry setting, or reinstallation of IE8 may give you this option if you really want it.

Thanks Fusion. Don't think I'll mess around with re-installing, I might make things worse Like I said, it's just a small thing.
Thanks for your time Ellen

I looked and didn't see a drop down menu and it occured to me that maybe this new computer hadn't yet got IE8 as I thought. I checked Windows for updates and there were some available, which I downloaded. And Lo and Behold, amongst them was the IE8 update. I downloaded all available updates and there it is...the 'about tabs' page. I am sorry guys for picking your brains over this, I should have thought things out before asking you. Anyway, all's well that ends well. BTW this new Acer runs like a dream, after my 8 year old dinasour.
Thanks again. Sorry for bothering you

Thanks, that's very interesting. I hadn't noticed it before and I'll have a look at it the next time I use IE8.
