Once upon a time I would agree, but not now, not for a decade or more. PCs are just as capable of handling multimedia (images, music, video) at a non-commercial level as a Mac ever was.

Of course, the choice is yours and seeking opinions of others isn't always much use - folk tend to advise on what they know and use - Mac owners will swear Macs are the only fruit, likewise PC owners.

One thing to consider is the pound for pound power/RAM/HD/etc., ratio. PCs are cheaper than Macs, plus how much have you invested in PC software, how much will you have to re-invest in the Mac equivalent?

Have you used a Mac? Do you like the OS? (Not all Mac OS's are equal.) I assume the issue with your current PC is the OS, XP, how about keeping the PC and trying Linux?

The ratio is probably less representative of the RW ratio of PC:Mac, it has to be said.

There are of course plenty of forums dedicated to Macs, and I'm sure your question will get but one answer...
