I think I have broken my XP laptop (all fully upto date, SP3 etc)! I got the Internet Explorer 8 update yesterday and installed it. After having already done it on my Vista laptop I was confident of an easy install. Unfortunately this was not to be.
When it was installed I went to check my e-mail in the usual way and instead of opening up my outlook express e-mail it opened an MSN Explorer registration thing. I tried everything I know to make outlook express the default e-mail but nothing would work. haha I thought, I will do a system restore and re-install IE8 and make sure to click the boxes that say "use current settings" which I thought I did but hey maybe I never.
The system restore did its thing but upon rebooting came back saying it was unable to complete the restore. After this I tried to access my IE browser but it opens and then just shuts down instantly? Along with this, Internet Options now wont open either! however I do have access to the internet via my other browser "Opera" so I can download and run any programs if needed.
As it stands now I am just running Malwarebytes but I fear either IE8 didnt install correctly or my PC is riddled with malware? I would really appreciate any help or advice as always.
