can anyone tell me if i can keep my sky broadband but cancel the rest of my sky package,

Sky Broadband is provided via a BT telephone line so what you do with your satellite TV system won't affect it. However, Sky will have given you Broadband at a discount because you already had their system in your home. If you now want to get rid of it they will almost certainly charge you more for BB alone.
