Changing ISP
      #417644 - Tue Dec 23 2008 09:39 PM

I'm thinking of changing my ISP as I have hit their Fair Usage rate a couple of times and now find that I am likely to do it more often as I purchase music through itunes etc.

I've never had to phone up my provider before for this sort of thing and wondered if someone could give me a few pointers as I know I have to ask for a mac code but do I have to cancel my connection with my current provider before taking out a different one?

I am currently on Demon but looking to switch to O2

Thank you :-)

Ask for your MAC and advise the current ISP that you wish to cancel giving them at least one months notice.

Then pass your MAC onto your new ISP, once this has been done your new ISP will write advising of the completion date of when your line has been switched.

If you currently pay via Direct Debit and forget to advise your current ISP that you have cancelled, even though you've asked for your MAC, then they will continue to take their monthly fee, even if you cancel the DD from your side.
