I'm looking at various broadband providers just now and the one thing that's putting me off signing up is that I've hearda lot of them have tech support centers based outside the UK.
I'm not being racist, but you know what it's like - as the username suggests I'm not the most technical chap in the world (it's taken me this long to move away from dial up) and if I need tech support - whcih I will - I'd like to get through to somebody who knows what they're doing and isn't just sticking rigidly to a script. Does anyone know which broadband suppliers have UK based support?

AOLs Call centre is in Waterford Ireland and they are very good Do occasionally switch to India Out of Working Hours, or when Ireland is busy ...virtually No waiting. But rarely have any communication problems. They all have workarounds on their desktops and they are very Polite and Unlike some ISPs They often send you a FeedBack survey Via email later So you can Tell their Bosses what you think. Verdict: Rubbish dated Browser, but the staff and Tech support are excellent PS I've been with them since 1999

they are a uk company and unlike aol uk who are owned by carphone wharehouse (along with onetel) they have a uk center for help etc they also have an online knowledge base that you can search through if you cant get the help you need from the base and have to phone them and if you cant get the help from them (which i really doubt as i have found them to be very very good) they also have a technical team they can route you to.
and there top package is unlimited (kind of unlimited..... they give you 40gig a month in there peak hours that are 6pm till midnight that means during those peak hours you have 40 gig a month to play with for 6 hours a night the rest of the time its unlimited and i find this to be very very fair) but they do (as all isp's do !!) throttle torrents unlike bt/sky/tiscali who have signed up to warn there customers and then boot them off the net for file sharing im not sure but i think carphone have signed up aswell.

The Post Office is your best bet. I've recently switched from AOHell/BT and over the moon with the PO home phone/broadband package.

You've now answered 6 different threads, most of them out of date, flogging the Post Office broadband deal. Can I assume you are a Post Office employee?

No, I'm not a PO employee! I changed to the PO a couple of months ago and so pleased with the move that I just wish to help others struggling with their providers or looking for a decent ISP that will deliver what they advertise. If however you don't appreciate my posts I will stop posting.

Thanks for letting me know. "Regular" under his user name made me think he wasn't.
