Hello everyone
I wondered if anyone had ever been asked to remove a negative review about a product you'd bought/service you'd received online?
In November 2006, we ran a story about a reader who had been asked by Pixmania to remove a negative review he had put on Amazon.co.uk in exchange for a refund.

Personally, I find shop review systems a waste of time. It is open to abuse and petty minded individuals use it regularly, under the cape of anonymity posting virtually any libellous statement that they like without fear of any comeback.
It makes a mockery of reviews as the ethos is to give an fair and objective description of a product or service, but a number of people use it as a method of washing their dirty linen in public. Instead of using the usual channels of communications, they use public blackmail to get what they want. No business wants negative publicity, just as no customer wants shoddy service.
However, when you see posts such as "@#$%£ ********* sucks!", you recognise the mentality of the individuals that post them. The whole eBay system is very much the same, and unfortunately denigrates the idea behind ratings.
I see hundreds of posts where the the seller is accused of taking their time to deliver, despite the fact that once out of their doors, they have little or no control. The same can be said of external packaging. It may look beautiful leaving the warehouse, but a couple of days in transit can make a box look like the remains of a car wreck, not the suppliers fault but they get blamed
Nah, believe ratings systems at your peril!
